Privacy Policy
Last updated:
Go Jogga is a running app that builds an adaptive training plan, schedules runs around the weather, generates routes with turn-by-turn guidance, and coaches you by voice. To do that it handles personal data, including location and heart-rate data. This policy explains what, why, and what you can do about it.
Who this covers
This policy covers the Go Jogga mobile apps, the companion watch apps, the web dashboard and this website. “We” and “us” mean the Go Jogga team. Contact details are in theContact section.
What we collect
- Account data: your sign-in details (email and password, or Google or Apple sign-in), profile details you enter, and your age confirmation.
- Training data: your goals, plans and planned workouts, completed runs (including GPS routes, distance, pace and splits), shoes and mileage, and the injury, pain or break (holiday) pauses you report.
- Heart-rate data: live heart rate from a monitor or watch you pair, or from workouts you import from Apple Health or Health Connect. Heart-rate data is health data and is treated as especially sensitive.
- Location: your position during a run, and your location for weather forecasts and route generation.
- Integration data: if you connect Strava, Apple Health, Health Connect or a watch vendor, the connection tokens needed to keep it working and the workout data exchanged with it.
- Safety data: emergency contact names and phone numbers you add, and live-share links you create.
- Consent records: which version of the terms, this policy and the health acknowledgment you accepted, and when.
- Subscription data: your subscription status. Card or bank details are handled by the payment provider, not by us.
- Device and usage data: device and app-version details, push notification tokens, crash reports, and product usage events such as whether onboarding was completed or a feature was used.
- Support messages: what you send us, plus the device and app-version details attached to a support ticket.
Why we use it, and on what basis
| Purpose | Data | Basis (GDPR) |
|---|---|---|
| Provide the app: build and adapt your plan, track runs, show stats | Account, training, location | Performance of our contract with you |
| Use heart-rate data in your runs and plan | Heart-rate data | Your explicit consent, given when you pair a device or connect a health source |
| Weather-aware scheduling and route generation | Location | Performance of our contract with you |
| Emergency contact messages and live sharing | Safety data, location | Your request; you choose to set these up and use them |
| Send sign-in, security, data-export and subscription emails and push notifications | Account, device | Performance of our contract with you |
| Fix crashes and keep the service secure | Crash and device data | Our legitimate interest in a reliable, secure service |
| Understand which features are used to improve the product | Product usage events (not GPS traces or heart-rate values) | Our legitimate interest in improving the product |
| Handle support requests and billing | Account, support, subscription | Performance of our contract; legal obligations |
| Keep records of what you accepted | Consent records | Legal obligation and our legitimate interest in proving consent |
Where we rely on consent you can withdraw it at any time, for example by unpairing a device or disconnecting an integration. That does not affect processing done before you withdrew it. We do not sell your personal data and we do not use advertising trackers.
Who receives your data
We run most of our infrastructure ourselves: the database, sign-in service, route engine and product analytics are self-hosted. Some things need an outside provider, and some are only shared when you choose to connect them:
| Recipient | What for | What they receive |
|---|---|---|
| Scaleway (Generative APIs) | Generating training plan content | The training information needed to write your plan |
| Open-Meteo | Weather forecasts | Location coordinates for the forecast |
| Sentry (hosted) | Crash and error reporting | Crash and error details from the app and our servers |
| Twilio | Sending emergency-contact SMS | Your contact’s phone number and the message text, including your first name and a location link |
| Mollie | Web payments, after the beta | Payment details you enter and subscription information |
| Apple App Store, Google Play | In-app purchases, after the beta; Apple and Google sign-in | Purchase and sign-in information, handled under their own terms |
| Strava (if you connect it) | Posting your completed runs | Your completed runs, sent to your Strava account |
| Apple Health, Health Connect (if you connect them) | Writing your runs to your device’s health store and importing workouts recorded elsewhere | Workout, distance and heart-rate data, kept in your device’s health store |
| Garmin, Polar, Coros, Suunto (if you connect them) | Importing workouts and sending workouts to your watch | Workout data exchanged under the connection you authorise |
| Push and email delivery services | Notifications and transactional email | Your device token or email address and the message |
Providers act on our instructions where they process data for us, under data processing terms. Strava, your health store and watch vendors are services you choose to connect; their own privacy policies apply to data once it reaches them. Disconnecting Strava stops further posts, and we offer to delete activities we previously posted there. Outside of the above, we share personal data only if the law requires it.
Run safety features
- Live run sharing is opt-in per run. It creates a link that shows your live position in a web browser to anyone who has it, with no account needed. We send nothing to anyone when you create it: you choose who to send the link to. The link stops working shortly after your run ends.
- Emergency contacts are optional. If you press SOS, or your run stops unexpectedly and you don’t respond to the in-app prompts, we send an SMS to your emergency contact with a link to your last known location. This is the only SMS the product sends. Please make sure your contact is happy to receive these messages.
How long we keep it
We keep your account data while your account exists. When you delete your account, your plans, completed runs, integration connections, paired devices and device tokens are deleted, after a short recovery period in case the deletion was a mistake. Product usage data kept after deletion is anonymised so it can no longer be linked to you. Some records, such as billing records, may be kept for as long as the law requires.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you can:
- Export your data. In the app’s profile and settings, request an export. We prepare a machine-readable file of your plans, workouts, runs and profile and email you a download link.
- Delete your account. In the app’s profile and settings; you confirm by typing, because deletion cannot be undone after the recovery period.
- Access, correct, restrict or object to our use of your data, and withdraw consent, by contacting us.
- Complain to your local data protection authority.
To exercise any right, use the in-app options above or contact us.
Age
Go Jogga is not intended for children. You confirm your age when you sign up, and the app is not intended for anyone under 16. If you believe a child has given us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
Security
Sign-in is handled by a dedicated identity service using standard OAuth/OIDC with PKCE, data is stored in a database we operate, and the sites are served over HTTPS. No system is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
This website
This marketing website has no accounts, forms, advertising trackers or analytics. The only thing it stores in your browser is your light or dark theme choice. Like any web server, ours may log requests (such as your IP address) for security and operations. If you email us, we use your message to reply.
Changes to this policy
We will update the “Last updated” date when this policy changes. When a change needs your agreement again, the app asks you to accept the new version.
